  1. 01

    Download the release

    Use v1.0.0, the first full release with a validated package/install/runtime baseline.

  2. 02

    Rebuild the editor

    Right-click your .uproject and generate files, then build in Development Editor configuration.

  3. 03

    Install the auth token

    Create or rotate the token from the MCP4Unreal editor settings. Tokens are stored in the OS secure store when available, with a documented file fallback for headless environments.

    Project Settings > Plugins > MCP4Unreal > Authentication > Rotate Token
  4. 04

    Point your MCP client

    Claude (2026-06-18) and Codex (2026-04-28) are validated live against the editor. Any MCP client works directly over Streamable HTTP with custom headers, or through the bundled STDIO bridge. Cursor is currently unsupported because it rejects standard dotted tool names.
